the one about amsterdam
Saturday, March 8, 2014I am knee deep in researching Europe. Sometimes I wonder if this is a good idea. I find myself just wanting to read and read and read instead of study, study, study. It also increases my desire to go. I'm already counting down the days and it's still a ways off. But do I stop? Not a chance.
Lately I have been focusing my time researching Amsterdam. I have always loved how colorful this city is and cannot wait to see it (hopefully!) for myself. For some reason I feel like everyone should see Amsterdam by bike so that's the plan. You can rent a bike for a while day for five euros!
My list is still pretty short on things to do and see, but here's where it's at so far:
- Anne Frank House
- Vincent Van Gogh Museum
- Canal walk/boat tour
- Tassenmuseum (museum of handbags and purses)
- Jodenbuurt (old Jewish quarter)
- Bloemenmarkt (floating flower market)
- Waterlooplein flea market (apparently European flea markets are to die for)
It's a pretty short list, but the trip will only be a few days! Anyone been? Any other tips?

Definitely the Van Gogh museum!!!! Favourite museum ever! Also check out the Rijksmuseum!!! It has a ton of Rembrandt and other things. You can actually rent a paddleboat and paddle around the canals yourself if you want, but I don't know how that would work with just one person? Definitely cycle around! Amsterdam is gorgeous, and you'd definitely be able to see it in a couple days. The flower market is gorgeous too--bring back some bulbs or some wooden shoes!

ReplyDeleteThe paddleboat is an awesome idea! I'm going with friends so I won't be alone :) Cycling is also a definite! It's so cheap and just sounds like the perfect way to see Amsterdam.Also, please come with me!!!!!!! Give into the travel bug :)
