Halfway through the first week of the Olympics and I am loving it.  There is something almost spiritual about watching someone else achieve something so great.  I am not ashamed to admit that I sometimes shed tears during this beloved games.  My tears, however, are not the only ones that fall.

During the women's gymnastics team qualifier and all-around competition finals the world watched as Jordyn Wieber's Olympic dreams came crumbling down around her. Unfortunately, this is part of the games.  Not everyone can win.  I was extremely disappointed though that they would not allow her to leave the arena.  Immediately upon learning the results she dissolved in tears, and let's be honest, who wouldn't?  I simply wish that they had allowed her to have her moment of grief in peace and private.  Wieber did not need to have the whole world watch this moment.  To make matters worse they interviewed her! Who wants to talk about it seconds after it happens? I was upset for her :( I wish they had let her leave the arena and return to the village.

Jordyn Wieber was the model of class and composure during her interview.  She graciously applauded her teammates and proved that she is a champion both in and out of the gym.  Kudos to you, Jordyn!

Hello, London 2012! I loooooove the Olympics! There's just something about the games that get me so excited.  I basically get nothing else done during the two weeks of they Olympics (however, this go around may be different since I don't have a TV and can't figure out where to stream it from for free :( ).  Luckily I got to watch the opening ceremonies (amazing) and some of the events early yesterday.  The Olympics get me excited for sports I would never watch otherwise (I'm looking at you, cycling), but I also have my favorites.  My single-most favorite Olympic event to watch is swimming :) I love it when they show the World Record line moving down the pool and the underwater camera when they flip turn.  Ah, it's just so exciting!!

In Beijing, the Games were all about one guy: Michael Phelps.  Every article written about the Olympics mentioned him and his quest for a perfect performance. Sadly, Phelps stopped training, missed practices, and had a small fall from grace..  He got his act together though, but unfortunately, it's time to move over, Phelps; there's a new guy (ok, not so new) in the pool this Olympics.  Hello, Ryan Lochte! He's already trumped Phelps once these Games in the 400IM and I am looking forward to see him do it again! He's tons of fun to watch and extremely personable in interviews AND he doesn't look too bad in his suit either ;) So while I used to be an avid Phelps fan, I am happy to let these games go to Ryan.  Let's put him on the Wheaties box this time.

I don't get the biting the medal thing, but it works for him

Who doesn't love a hipster?

This one doesn't really have a purpose other then I liked it :)

The time has come for me to purchase a new computer.  Sadly, my current one does not meet the standards of the MSM so the shopping process has begun.  Normally I perfer PCs, but many a Mac-lover have tried to sway my opinion and I must say that they have done a fantastic job. The only problem is now I have to make the decision.  I have narrowed my search to three options: 1) MacBook Pro 2) HP Pavilion dv6 and 3) Sony Vaio.  Each has their pros and cons, but I don't feel like I am any closer to picking one.

Mac:
Pros
-it looks super sleek
-great screen display/graphics
-hard to get a virus...you have to almost want it
-light weight
-retains value

Cons
-it's super hiptser
-extremely expensive
-kind of against against my code of conduct to buy a Mac

PC:
Pros
-well priced
-runs Windows
-I feel comfortable with it
-compatible with every other computer (except a Mac)

Cons
-tend to get viruses
-overheat
-bulky and heavy
-does not resell well

Now I just have to make a decision.  Do I get the PC and risk a virus and lousy resale? Or do I get a Mac and risk eating my words because I swore I would never buy a Mac? I think I am willing to risk my reputation.  The pros outweigh the cons and (I hate to say it) but it is a pretty good machine.  Nothing is set in stone, but I think I am leaning towards a Mac....

Doesn't it look so good?! I'd get the smaller one (cheaper!)

So I'm a business major :) I have spent the glorious summer of 2012 taking all the prerequisite courses.  This term it is accounting and I hate to say it...but I kind of love it.  I keep telling my friends that I love accounting but not to tell anyone because it's super nerdy, but after you've told so many people you might as well tell everyone :) I used to make fun of accounting (Mama Lo can serve as a witness to this claim), but now I get it.  There is something exciting when your credits and debits equal! Sometimes it is boring, but I think this might be my favorite class that I've taken at BYU (I know, this is extreme, but I stand by it). Accounting is the best class ever. Maybe I'll consult for Deloitte......that makes it a win-win.

The only accounting firm with a consulting branch :)

Today as I was at church I was thinking about one of my favorite songs during Sacrament Meeting.  I love love love 'Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing'! The lyrics are so sweet and beautiful.  Written by Robert Robinson, they capture the yearnings of every heart as we progress through this mortal experience.  Mark Mabry took a series of photographs and set them to this song.  Everything about this video is beautiful! It is one that I can put on repeat and never get tired of watching it :) I hope you love it as much as I do!

Lyrics:

Come thou fount of every blessing
Tune my heart to sing thy grace
Streams of mercy never ceasing
Call for songs of loudest praise
Teach me some melodious sonnet
Sung by flaming tongues above
I'll praise the mount I'm fixed upon it
Mount of thy redeeming love

Here I raise my Ebenezer
Hither by thy help I come
And I hope by thy good pleasure
Safely to arrive at home
Jesus sought me when a stranger
Wondering from the fold of God
He, to rescue me from danger
Interposed His precious blood

O to grace how great a debtor daily I'm constrained to be!
Let thy goodness like a fetter, bind my wandering heart to thee
Prone to wander Lord I feel it, prone to leave the God I love
Here's my heart, O take and seal it, seal it for thy courts above

Well, the wait is finally over!!! I woke up yesterday morning and was completely jazzed because at 8am I was going to hear from the Marriott School of Management.  Eight came and went with no decision... Then nine came and went... Ten... By eleven I stopped checking my email.  I tried to keep myself busy since they changed the date and said 'the third week of July.'  I had to do something to keep me busy so I worked on my presentation for BYUSA and took a nap! At 6:30pm I was studying for my accounting exam and I decided to check the website on a whim and......

I'M IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am officially a business major :) I am so excited and relieved! After a grueling 19 days of waiting I have been accepted to one of the best undergraduate business schools in the country!! I'm on top of the world, 'ay!
These are some of my favorite quotes ever! Happy Thursday :)

I love that an answer to a prayer can come in the most unexpected of places.  I just picked a random Mormon Message tonight before I went to sleep and I was given this little gem.  Heavenly Father knows and loves us and for this I will be forever grateful :)
Do you ever have those days where no matter what you're just super mega happy for reason? I do :) I feel like I can do anything and everything.  I think those are the best days! I had one of these days last week and I thought to myself, 'Gosh, I wish there was a song that went along with these kind of days!' Well ladies and gentlemen...there is! I give you 'On Top of the World' by the wonderful Imagine Dragons :)  Enjoy and be on top of the world, 'ay!

I love the Fourth of July! I think next to Christmas and Thanksgiving, it's my favorite holiday :) I still can't believe that last year I was in Bethlehem.  It was so fun! While I wasn't in some exotic country this year, it was still a perfect day! I woke up early and then raced (drove) to my aunt and uncle's house in Orem.  We set up shade tents and tables in the backyard while Aunt Kris put together this amazing spread of treats that were red, white, and blue.  I am amazed at the parties she throws :) I spent the rest of the afternoon playing with cousins (Andy and I danced all day) and eating delicious food (Uncle Drake makes a mean hot dog!).  At the end of the night we had a lovely display of fireworks in the cul de sac and then it was off to bed.  All in all, it was a perfect day :)

This picture doesn't really match, but I just like :) It a pig-shaped hot air balloon that they launched on the morning of the Fourth....so pigs do fly!
