Today's the day! Well, it's just a day really.  Although this just might be the day that kills. I woke up this morning, looked at my planner, and seriously considered getting back into bed.  I think I have one free hour all day long.  Why do I do this to myself?! Earlier this semester I decided that I wanted to apply to be an Executive Director for BYU/SA (BYU's equivalent of student government).  I applied to three different areas and they all called back to interview me....the same day...within an hour and a half  of each other. No big deal, right? Hopefully by the last one I'll still be coherent :) Less than two hours after my last interview I have a big presentation for the Strategy club (I made good on my promise to join!).  My team and I are presenting our solution to Escrowtech International, a local firm with a huge client base. We were asked to come up with a method to increase the demand of escrows in the software industry.  I joined the team the week before we were to present.  I felt a little in over my head, but after some research on my own I felt like I was finally able to contribute at our last team meeting.  We present tonight and the winner receives a prize :) Wish me luck!! Let's home I make it to my intramural tournament game later tonight....
...Be ever in your favor.  This past week I went and saw The Hunger Games.  My friends wanted to go to the midnight premiere.  I had an interview the next morning so I was skeptical to go, but I knew I couldn't pass this chance up.  I bought a ticket....Best. Decision. Ever.

Katie picked me up at 10:00 and we waited outside until the blessed moment when they let us in.  We were in District 3 for the 12:09 showing of one of the greatest movies ever.  All of the other theaters were let in before us because there was a sweet old man watching a movie in ours.  We finally got in and the anticipation was killing us! We had to wait for a good 45 minutes before the movie started, but luckily we had delicious slushies to pass the time :)
Finally, the moment came...The lights dimmed, the screen lit, and the Games began.  Before I knew it I was on the edge of my seat as the Reaping began.  I felt a glimmer of pride as Katniss volunteers as Tribute in order to save her sister.  Then I was on a train racing towards the Capitol.  Next came the training and interviews and finally..the Arena.  I could feel my pulse elevating as Katniss was raised to the Arena and the countdown began.  As the final seconds ticked away my anticipation peaked and then....the battle started.  (I must admit that at times I covered my eyes because I didn't want to see anything too gorey, but I was pleasantly supplied.  It was not graphic at all.) I watched intently as the heroine maneuvered through the Arena and conquered her foes.  When the movie finally ended I was a little disappointed.  I wanted it to keep going or to rewind it and watch it again.  My friends and I sleepily stumbled back to the car (it was almost 3am) and drove back home.  As I slipped into bed I thought back over the movie and dreamed of the day when I could watch it again.

The most watched trailer of my life
Tonight I attended a wonderful fireside that was put on by the a capella group Vocal Point.  They sang so many wonderful hymns and I left feeling so uplifted.  The group sang my favorite hymn and I couldn't help but share it.

Happy Sabbath :)
This past Monday for our ward FHE we all relived a little bit of our childhood.  An apartment of girls in the ward were responsible for the activity and they knocked it out of the park.  We all ate pizza together and then.........watched a Disney Sing-a-Long video :) The next half hour was spent belting out "The Circle of Life" and dancing to "Prince Ali".  I was thrown back in time to the days when I would watch Disney movies in the living room in my pjs with a bowl of Cheerios at my feet.  Those were the days :) Here's to you, Disney...

And finally, the best scene ever created....

It's that time of the semester when I begin to daydream of lazy summer afternoons and late night bonfires.  (Although this summer is not going to be so lazy....) March just seems to be the hardest month of the whole year.  School is picking up, finals are right around the corner, and the weather is warming up.  All I want to do is lay on the grass and soak in the sun's warm rays.
While this summer is going to be full of classes, homework, and tests, I do have something delightful to look forward to.....Keyla and I are going to California! I'm trying to convince her to go twice, but we are definitely going at least once.  I have never been to the sun-soaked state of Cali so I am bubbling over with excitement.  It will be wonderful to escape Provo for a few short, glorious day.  Our plan is to pile in her little car and drive down to LA and stay with a friend.  We still haven't finalized our plans, but I for sure have a list of things that I want to do :)
Huntington Beach
Obviously we have to go to the beach.  It's a must if you're within fifty miles of a beach! California has beaches like the South has churches, so we have to pick our beach carefully.  I am thinking that I want to go to Huntington Beach.  First, that's where all the big beach volleyball tournaments are so maybe we'll see some intense games going on and (knock on wood) get to play :) Second, it is stinkin' beautiful! The sand is white, the water is a clear blue, and the temperature is perfect.  The pier goes on for miles with tons of fun little shops and restaurants. Finally, the sunsets are incredible (at least the pictures are).  It's a win win!
Best Street Ever
We are also going to take a stroll down Rodeo Drive.  This is also required when traveling to SoCal.  We clearly won't buy anything since we're poor students :) Maybe we'll spot a celebrity or two, which would be fun. I'm thinking I probably shouldn't even take my purse on that trip.... Also in an effort to spot a famous face, we'll walk down the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The Happiest Place on Earth
The last must stop on my is....DISNEYLAND! I feel like I missed out on a right of passage during my childhood since I have never been.  I plan to ride every single ride, excluding the kiddie rides of course.  And I will shamelessly look for Mickey and Minnie all day so I can get my picture taken with them. Naturally we'll get there as soon as the park opens and ride all the good rides first before the lines get insane.  We'll hit Space Mountain and Splash Mountain first and move on from there.  Around lunch time we'll buy some ridiculously overpriced lunch and eat it while we watch a show or something.  We'll continue to ride rides until the end of the night when we'll race over to Cinderella's castle for the fireworks show. After a fun-filled day we'll return home and sleep like the happy children we will be :) The next morning we'll pile back into the car and make the long drive back to Provo, singing obnoxiously the whole way!
Have a happy Sabbath!

I love spring!! The weather has been soooooo delightful this week, that I just can't help but be happy :) This explains my week perfectly....

Thank you, Provo
Have a happy Friday!

Yesterday was a big day.  I had a presentation for BYU/SA.  I spent the last year working on a research project and yesterday I had the opportunity to present my findings to the Student Advisory Council.  I was super super nervous, but overall I think it went well.  Plus, I got to wear a pencil skirt, so it was a win win :)
Right before my presentation, I also had an interview as part of the application process to get into the Clinical Lab Science program at BYU.  Part of this program includes a six month internship at the hospital working in the diagnostics lab.  As I was asking more about the internship it just kind of hit me.....I don't want to work in a lab at all.  CLS is more just a stepping stone for me to get to PA, but if that doesn't work out then I will end up working in a field that I absolutely hate.  While the director continued to explain the six month internship I knew that I couldn't do it.  The more and more I thought about it the more comfortable I felt with this decision.  Being the grown-up that I am, I called my mama to talk things over :) By the end of the conversation I had made a pretty solid decision...........I am going to finish up my pre-reqs for PA school and major in business!
I've been in a business class this semester and I love love love it! Every time that I go to class I feel like I am hanging on every word the presenter says.  It's so intriguing and interesting; it feels like a good fit.  Not only that, but it leaves tons of doors open for me--always a good feeling :) I am heading to the advisement office today to see what I need to do to make this happen so hopefully it'll all work out! I have to apply to the program so I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but from here on out it's reading the Journal, watching the stock market, and doing other business-y things :) Who knew that one interview would change my whole perspective?
Provo's gift to the college student
I have this terrible habit of forgetting to go grocery shopping.  It's never convenient to go and I never know what I want to cook for the next two weeks, so sometimes I just avoid it.  I never go hungry; I inevitably end up going to the store to pick up the essentials and somehow it turns into to a full-blown shopping trip, cart and everything. However, every once in a while the universe blesses me with a comical encounter...
On Tuesday Keyla and I embarked on one of these adventures.  I needed to run my rent up to my landlord so we figured we would stop at this little taco shop on the way home.  We ate our tacos (almost as good as Grandma Lopez's) and picked up
The famed bread
a few things at the Mexican supermarket and headed to Macy's.
We strolled into Macy's and headed towards the bread aisle. As it was my turn to buy bread, I began scanning the rows for the cheapest wheat bread that I could find.  I'm not a complete cheap-o so I ruled out the $1.50 loaf that looked like it would be a hockey puck in two days and selected the very convincing $2.50 loaf.  As I'm putting my bread in my cart another fellow student comments that I shouldn't skimp on bread and informs me that the Grandma Sycamore brand is the only way to go.  While I love Grandma Sycamore as much as the next student, it costs almost four dollars! I don't love her that much, haha.  We continued to banter back and forth concerning the quality of this brand and if it was really worth the $4 price tag. Laughing I informed my new friend that he didn't know my life to which his wittingly retorted, "You're right, but I know Grandma Sycamore."
Well played, sir, well played.
Adele, our inspiration
I love my roommates!! They're so the best ever :) Last Sunday seemed like it was going to be a pretty uneventful day.  I woke up waaaay to early to make it up to Kaysville for a farewell (which was delightful) and then raced back to Provo to attend some meetings that I was a part of.  Sometimes I wish there was a day that was set aside for all the meetings necessary for one week, but that's another post :) After completing all my duties for the day, I decided that I was going to sleep, watch movies, and write letters for the rest of the day.  It was a perfect plan: uneventful and simple.  Little did I know, however, that I would end the night with abs extremely sore from laughing....

We came home from ward prayer and were waiting for our friend Garin to come over.  We had decided that we were going to eat delicious pazookies that night.  For those who don't know what a pazookie is, let me change your life right now :) A pazookie is a massive cookie that is cooked so that middle is still gooey.  Right after you pull it out of the oven you douse it with tons of ice cream and eat it!! It is the most delectable treat in the history of the world. Garin had a hold up so he was going to be late, so Keyla, Angela (yes I have a roommate named Angela :) ) and I decided to have a dance party and Keyla decided that she should film it.  I'm not sure why we let her, but it ended up making for a good story, hence this post, haha.

Angela and I began our very technical dancing to Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain" (a great track, by the way...kudos to Adele).  It was a mixture of ballet and those terrible dance moves we all picked up at stake dances.  We both wind up for the climax of the chorus and..........I smacked her.  Needless to say, that was the end of the dance routine.  We collapsed in laughter and burned off the pazookie we had just inhaled :) Best. Night. Ever.

Listen closely :)
