Here are the words to my favorite Sacrament hymn:

Reverently and Meekly Now
Words by Joseph L. Townsend

Rev'rently and meekly now,
Let thy head most humbly bow.
Think of me, thou ransomed one;
Think what I for thee have done.
With my blood that dripped like rain,
Sweat in agony of pain,
With my body on the tree
I have ransomed even thee.

In this bread now blest for thee,
Emblem of my body see;
In this water or this wine,
Emblem of my blood divine.
Oh, remember what was done
That the sinner might be won.
On the cross of Calvary
I have suffered death for thee.

Bid thine heart all strife to cease;
With thy brethren be at peace.
Oh, forgive as thou wouldst be
E'en forgiven now by me.
In the solemn faith of prayer
Cast upon me all thy care,
And my Spirit's grace shall be
Like a fountain unto thee.

At the throne I intercede;
For thee ever do I plead.
I have loved thee as thy friend,
With a love that cannot end.
Be obedient, I implore,
Prayerful, watchful evermore,
And be constant unto me,
That thy Savior I may be.

Happy Sabbath :)

After several long days of packing and not packing (because it's super boring and I hate it), I have made it to my new house! I'm excited to start the new semester, but the house definitely has some funny quirks :) For instance, all of the light switches are on the outside of the rooms where the light is. I really hope that someone does not decide to cut the lights while I am showering...that would be awkward. There also seems to be a severe lack of outlets in the house :) My bedroom has four, but they're all on one wall...opposite my bed.  This is going to make watching Grey's Anatomy pretty interesting since my computer's battery life is pretty nonexistent.  My whole room is blue: the walls and the ceiling.  It's not a bright wow-I-think-I'm-Greece-blue either.  It's more of a I-think-I-have-frostbite-blue.  My room is tiny, but I say it's cozy.  It makes it seem bigger.

The bathroom is equally interesting.  There is a huge window in the shower (no, you didn't read that wrong).  It looks on to this delightful church parking lot, so I guess I won't be showering on Sunday mornings.  I think the window is actually frosted, but it's still a little disgruntling. The temperature of the water is impossible to get just right and I couldn't figure out how to turn it off.  One of my dear roommates finally told me that the water doesn't shut off all the way, so each night I fall asleep to the sound of running water.  I'll just pretend that I'm in Greece with the right color blue :) The bathroom is extremely small (think phonebooth), but it works just the same.  One of our kitchen cabinets has a pencil sharpener on it and our AC sits in the window.  Despite all of these character enhancing features, I love this house.  It will be full of adventures I'm sure, but I wouldn't have it any other way

Here's to another beautiful Sunday in the valley :)

Mt Timpanogus Temple

Yesterday I did something quite daring.  I had a huge paper to write (aka 50% of my overall grade) for my political science class that was due at midnight.  I've been trying to get this paper written for almost two weeks now and I was down to the wire.  My dear friend Lauren called me around noon and invited me to go shopping up in Salt Lake City, so, naturally, I accepted :) Huge paper still not done...no big deal.  I merrily went on my way and forty minutes after leaving Provo I found myself at City Creek Center, the Mecca of Utah shopping. As I spent four glorious hours in all the shops I dreamed of the day when I'll no longer be a student and can shop free of worry (for the most part).  I think I could have spent all day at City Creek.  There shop after shop after shop and I wanted something in all of them. It would have been no problem to max out a credit card there.  This made me think, what stores would I want to max my credit card out at...

My excessive obsession with shopping is not limited to just clothing stores...

Oh, the dreams!

Have you ever had one of those nights were you just can't sleep? You toss and turn for hours but your mind just can't seem to turn off.  Tonight is one of those nights.  It is 2:45am in the middle of finals week and I find myself wide awake.  I have tried everything that I can think, but have decided to just give in to the lack of sleep.  As I lay in my bed frustrated with my body for ruining any hope of productivity tomorrow I have decided to stop feeling sorry for myself.  I have so much to be grateful for.  It has been a while since I really thought about all the blessings in my life.  I try to express my gratitude everyday, but lately it seems to be just out of habit rather than true expression.  Starting today I want to be better in this aspect of my life. President Monson said, "To express gratitude is gracious and honorable, to enact gratitude is generous and noble, but to live with gratitude ever in our hearts is to touch heaven." What a beautiful statement! I believe that as we are more grateful we will become closer to heaven and all the joys that abound there.  I once made a list of things I was grateful for and feel that the time to renew my gratitude has come.

I am grateful for...

  1. My mother.  She is my best friend and greatest fan.  When we talk on the phone we laugh and laugh as we exchange anecdotes of the day.  She always gives me the greatest advice but always allows me to make my own decisions.  If I can be half the mother that she is I will be in good shape.
  2. My father.  He too cheers me on in all that I do.  When I am getting ready for an interview or a presentation he always applauds my desire to grow and achieve new things.  When I think of the legacy that I want to leave behind he comes to mind.  He is known for his generosity and genuine care for others.  My dad is willing to go the extra mile for all he comes into contact with and I find that extremely admirable.
  3. My siblings. I have the greatest siblings in the world! Each one of them has taught me something different.  From them I have learned to laugh through life and accept whatever challenges come my way. I admire each one for something different.  Each brings me joy and I love them all so very much.
  4. BYU. Having the opportunity to attend college has been one of the greatest blessings of my entire life.  I love to learn and experience new things and BYU has brought a myriad of opportunities for this.  I have been able to travel the world and learn from the greatest minds in academia.  BYU has completely changed my life.  I have come into contact with so many wonderful people who have helped to shape my character for the better.
  5. My job.  Working at Independent Study has provided me with experiences that have taught me some of life's greatest lessons.  I have learned to be patient and try to see a situation from another's point of view.  I have been able to share the joy of students who are finally able to attain their goal of graduation or acceptance into their program.  It is wonderful!
  6. Music.  Music is powerful! It has the ability to bring us out of the deepest of depressions or calm tensions.  I love the hymns.  I often find myself singing them when I am feeling homesick or discouraged.  It is amazing the relief that can come from a simple melody and thoughtful lyrics.  It is one of the great joys of my life.
  7. My body.  Running is also a source of relaxation and peace for me.  There is something about the rhythmic pounding of the pavement that is soothing to the soul.  I am able to sort out the complexities of my life and find solutions to the most pressing problems.  I am so grateful that my body works like it is supposed to!
  8. Books.  Reading is one of the beauties of life. I love to escape my hectic life for just a little while here and there.  Every page is a new adventure.  I could read for hours and hours and most summer days I do.  Not only does reading bring pleasure, but it also is the best avenue for learning.  I have learned so much by reading the words of others.  I have learned about everything from the Crusades to different personalities, all by reading.
  9. Technology.  Technology is a wonderful thing! It allows us to stay in contact and share our lives with those who are far from us.  While living in Israel I was still able to talk to my family on a regular basis, which was such blessing.  I love that I can receive pictures and recordings from those I love.  I feel like I still get to be a part of their lives even though I am far away.
  10. The Gospel.  The Gospel truly is good news :) It brings such peace, joy, and calm into my life.  When things seem to changing to fast the Gospel is the rock that never changes.  It is the anchor that keeps me grounded.  The Gospel holds all the answers to life's questions.  I know that I am never truly alone, which brings to much comfort in this crazy world.  The Gospel means everything to me!

I know that I am a few days late in this post, but better late than never, right? :) This past weekend was one of the greatest that I can remember.  I spent it at my aunt and uncle's home (which is always a treat!) playing with my cousins and talking of the greatest weekend in history.  I am so grateful to my Savior who endured unthinkable pains and sorrows on my behalf.  I am extremely humbled by his sacrifice for me.  I make so many mistakes and stumble from the path, but because of Christ I am able to right my wrongs and try again. What a blessing it is to know that he understands and is willing to give me another chance.  I am extremely grateful for that wonderful Sunday morning over two millenia ago when Christ conquered death and arose on the third day.  I know that because of Christ that I will live again.

While living in Israel and I have the privilege to visit the sites where this miraculous weekend played out.  I will never forget what it felt like to sit under an olive tree in the Garden of Gethsemane.  I was deeply humbled as I sat and pondered what my Savior had done for me there.  The worries and noises of the world melted away after I walked through the gate.  What a privilege it was to be there! Perhaps my favorite place in all of Jerusalem was the Garden Tomb.  The entire garden is cloaked with a peaceful feeling.  Although there is nothing that says you have to speak quietly there, everyone seems to always whisper in the garden.  So many times did I sit in front of the tomb and offer prayers of gratitude to my Savior for what he had accomplished there.  As classmates we would sing songs about Easter morning as tears streamed down our faces, overwhelmed by gratitude and humility.  I will never forget how I felt on those blessed mornings and blistering afternoons.  I am eternally grateful for my Savior.  For all that he did and all that he does.  I know that he died on Calvary on that awful Friday afternoon, but I also know that triumphantly rose on Sunday morning.  He lives, of this I am sure.

He lives! All glory to His name!
He lives, my Savior, still the same.
Oh, sweet the joy this sentence gives:
"I know that my Redeemer lives!"

The Most Beautiful Words Ever Spoken
Happy Easter!
Today I decided what I am going to do with my life :) I have always wanted to be a National Geographic photographer....so now I'm going to! Sure it probably doesn't make that great of money to begin with, but I've been a poor college student for three years now--I'm basically a pro.  I don't have a sweet camera yet so I should probably invest on one of those.  After that though, I'm good to go! I am going to buy a plane ticket for the next international flight and just go.  So next time you here from me I could be anywhere in the world, such as:
Israel

Myanmar

Scotland

Machu Picchu

Indonesia

Tanzania

Greece

Morocco

Australia

Ok, so I'm not really going to travel the world taking pictures anytime soon, but a girl can dream right?

I know that it is nowhere close to Christmastime, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE this song and I couldn't help but share it.  I think I have listened to it each morning while I get ready for the last two weeks! Vocal Point is amazing!!

As they say in Britain, Happy Christmas :)
