When your morning starts like this, you just know that you're in for a perfect day. The clouds that rolled in with the morning stayed all day long, filling my Jane Austen heart and having me looking for Mr. Darcy all day.

We tumbled through the wild countryside, heading out toward the coast, when Christina shouted, "Stop! There's at least 7 waterfalls on that ridge!" We spilled out of the car, giggling like 7-year olds on Christmas morning, and tramped up the path.

The rain had a firm grip on the day at this point but not even that could dampen our spirits.

The white water flowed perfectly over the dark rocks and pushed against the greenest foliage I'd ever seen, causing me once again to question the reality of Iceland.

Fully soaked at this point, we hopped back into the car and once again pointed ourselves towards the coast.

Hellnar is out at the point of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. The rocky coast promised to be perfect in every way with the rain just adding to the drama of the landscape.

Sadly, the rain at this point made me fear for the well-being of the camera so just a few pictures--sorry! There's a trail that follows the coast for several kilometers that would have been jaw-dropping I'm sure on a clear day, but we were soaked, cold, and the fog so thick that we couldn't see anything.

So we listened to the cadence of the waves for a while and then hurried back to our heated seats, perfectly happy with our Gothic romance day.
