Does anyone else get a weird sense of joy from year end compilations? Maybe it's because I have an obsession with lists, but I love them. I just have to know what the ten best books of the year and who had the best fashion moment. It's part of the end of year ritual. So it's high time The Commentary had it's own list:

About six weeks ago, I decided that I wanted to do something different for Thanksgiving. I love spending time with my family, but was also itching to do some exploring. I constantly watch for cheap tickets on Hopper, the best airline app on the market. One morning I got an alert for achingly affordable tickets to Paris over the holiday so I booked them on a whim.

Remember when Taylor Swift told us that New York was waiting for us? Well, not exactly true, but it's amazing nonetheless. A few friends and I planned a trip to attend a conference for our church and then decided that we just wanted to play in the city 😉

Like many people, I pick one word at the beginning of the year to focus on for the next 365 days. This year's word is contentment.

About six weeks ago I finished one of the most incredible books. Now when I tell you what it was about, promise you'll stick with me...

If you've known me for any amount of time, you'll know that donuts are my favorite food. High-end, low-end, I love them all. There are several legendary donut shops in Boston so I did the only responsible thing: planned a day to go to all of them.

In recent years, I've been listening to more and more talks by leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I listen in the car, at the gym, as I curl my hair in the morning. In recent weeks I've taken to laying on my floor on Sunday afternoons and listening to them. It's been a wonderful way for me to bring light and stillness into an otherwise chaotic world. I have some old standbys that I've listed below. Enjoy!

Anyone else a total podcast junkie?? 🙋 I should be embarrassed about the number of podcasts I've subscribed too, but I figure there are worse things to collect and I'm pretty comfortable with who I am. So there you are :)

New year, new blog series! Each Friday I'm going to highlight five of my favorite things in any given category. Today it's my five favorite beauty products.

With the freezing temps in Boston lately, my life has been made up of cuddly blankets, long books, lit candles, and endless cups of herbal tea. The Danes have a word for this: hygge. And I am all about it.

Right before I went home for break a few friends and I had dinner at The Elephant Walk--an absolute treat if you're in Boston! For dessert we ordered Iles Flottantes Aux Fraises, better know as the floating island dessert and popularized in the States by Julia Child.

Happy New Year!

I usually make a list of resolutions on my birthday so I don't always make a full list at the New Year. Instead, in recent years I have started choosing a single word that I want to focus on. Past words have included learning and courage. This year, I wanted a word that could be applied to every aspect of my life in a relatively straightforward manner, so I settled on...

In the immortal words of Albus Dumbledore, "Another year, gone." 2017 was incredible and there was so much that happened. But if I had to make a montage to play during a romantic comedy about my life, this is what would make that 2 minute clip.

Almost fours years ago I started a project called 101 in 1001. It wasn't quite a to-do list, but not really a bucket list either, but something in between. I created a list of 101 things that I wanted to do in 1001 days.

Well, day 1001 is on Monday. So I put pen to paper (fingers to keyboard?) for round two:

There are few things in life as satisfying as a good book. It's quickly becoming the season of winter nights, cozy blankets, and a cuppa tea--all of which are better when paired with something divine to read. I always seem to be in the middle of several books at a time, but here are a few I've read recently that are well worth your time.

Vik is one of those places that is straight out of a dream. The soft black sand stretches out as far as you can see, with the foamy white waves pounding the shore in wonderful, chaotic rhythm.

Skógafoss was my FAVORITE stop in Iceland. It's right off the Ring Road and is the most spectacular waterfall. Enjoy the spray at the bottom and then climb to the top where you'll find the happiest surprise...

As summer slowly slips into fall, my roommate and I decided to escape the city and head out to the cape. I've wanted to go to the cape since I moved to Boston and this weekend I finally got the chance! Cape Cod is every bit as dreamy as I imagined.

When your morning starts like this, you just know that you're in for a perfect day. The clouds that rolled in with the morning stayed all day long, filling my Jane Austen heart and having me looking for Mr. Darcy all day.

Icelandic sheep are the stuff of legends. And this little guy was more than happy to pose for the camera. We found him as we drove out to a lighthouse perched on the coast.
